WPS files rate request with PSCW

Customers expected to see rates decrease in 2024.

Wisconsin Public Service filed a limited rate request with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW) on Monday, May 15. The filing is part of the review approved by the PSCW last year. For WPS electric customers, the increase in base rates is less than a percentage point. When you factor in lower fuel costs, customers will actually see a decrease in rates. The filing does not include any changes for natural gas customers.

Requested increase in electric base rates:

  • $8.6 million (0.5%)

Requested electric rates, including fuel:

  • Decrease of $28.3 million (2.0%)

We’ve attached the rate impacts by customer class for you to review. The rate requests will go through the usual review process with the PSCW, including public hearings to be scheduled later. A decision is expected later in the year. If approved, new rates would begin Jan. 1, 2024.
